Dakar

In 1967, an Israeli submariner must redefine his identity when he is sent to England with a crew of Israel's top navy men to renovate and bring home Israel's newest submarine, the INS DAKAR.

Liam, a submariner born in post-British Mandate Israel, is sent to Portsmouth, England to train on Israel’s newly commissioned submarine, INS Dakar. Underwater and within claustrophobic quarters, he forms an unbreakable bond of brotherhood with his fellow submariners. But on land, as he and his friends face complex interactions with the local British society, Liam finds himself caught up in the euphoria of Britain’s Swinging Sixties and “easy” lifestyle and begins to question his own patriotism. This creates a serious conflict between the collective world of Dakar and his budding individualism and in the days leading up to the fatal day of departure, Liam discovers he may not want to return to Israel after all.
